Categories

This help guide was written for Simple Review version 2.0.0.

A category contains reviews. You must have at least one category in order to create a review.
To create a category:

  1. Click the categories link from the Simple Review administration page.
  2. Click the new button from the category listing page.

Category fields:

  • Parent Category: If you have more than one category you can select the new categories parent. For example you could have a Music category which could be the parent of other categories such as Hip Hop, Pop, etc.
  • Name: The categories name.
  • Default Template: If you have created a template you can select it here. All reviews in this category will use this template.
  • Description: A description of this category.
  • Title 1..N: A category must contain at least one title. A title is a special field and is used to tell review writers what information they are expected to fill in. Example titles for a music category would be Artist, Album and Year Released. You can create more titles by clicking the Add a new title button, and expand the visible text area by clicking the + icon.
  • Category Image URL: This image will be displayed in the front end category listing.
  • Category Order: You can use this to change the order in which the categories are listed in the front end category listing.
  • Published: If checked the category will immediately be published.
  • Allow User Reviews: This is a future feature.
