Search results gives blank page in Joomla 1.6

I just installed the search plugin.  Now when I do a search I get a blank, white page.  If I disable the plug, search works again (of course I don't see anything in the reviews).  Am I missing something?

I am sorry for the delay. I just came back from an extended break and I will look into your problem. Please be patient as I have been gone for a month and have many people to help. I am sorry no one else was able to help you but this is a 100% volunteer operation. We have full times jobs, hobbies, and families. I will try to figure this out and help you solve it soon.

Great, thanks.  A bit more info:  The page is really blank - no source so it's as if the it's hung waiting to display the page.  Debug shows nothing as well so that's not helpful.  The url its hung at is http://www.ipadkitchen.com/index.php/component/search/?searchword=ziploc&searchphrase=all&Itemid=101
